✦ Sana ✦

2026

A year that keeps asking Sana to slow the machine down while the machine is still moving.

AT A GLANCE

Sana is being asked to work at a smaller size than usual. Nothing about that is a failure.

Two long pressures run almost all year: one that drains the usual energy reserves and blurs the edges of what Sana is sure about, and one that keeps returning to test whether the structure Sana built can hold at a lighter load. Between them, a wide, generous opening around ideas and voice fills the first half of the year. The task is to keep the good work and cut the volume of it.

  • The year's job

To find out what Sana can still do well while running on less, and to build the year around that answer rather than around old capacity.

  • When it opens

January through early June carries the widest openings for talking, writing, negotiating and being understood; late May to mid-July puts real strength back in the body.

  • When it presses

Late January, mid-April, late July and the run from August into December all press on stamina, authority and the words Sana chooses.

  • What it leaves

A slower, more accurate sense of what is worth the effort, and a working method that no longer depends on being tireless.

The tank reads empty and the schedule reads full.

There is a specific tiredness in this year that sleep does not fix. Sana pushes at something that used to give way easily and finds it heavy, and the first instinct is to assume the problem is effort. It is not. Two long, slow pressures sit across Sana's drive and sense of self for most of the twelve months, and both work by subtraction: less certainty, less fuel, less appetite for proving anything. Against that runs something genuinely expansive around communication and craft in the first half, which is why the year is confusing rather than simply hard. Sana will have days of real fluency followed by a week of fog and read the fog as evidence. The recognisable moment is standing in a room, being competent, and privately wondering when it started costing this much.

WHAT HELPS

Plan every commitment at seventy percent of what Sana would normally take on, and treat that as the honest number rather than a concession. Put down the belief that stamina is a character trait.

The year has three weathers, and they arrive in order.

January opens mid-pressure: a hard stop on physical drive that peaks around 28 January, while an unusually wide, articulate opening around Sana's thinking is already running and stays until early June, sharpest near 9 February and 10 April. February and March bring the year's most public stretch of visibility, cresting around 11 March, with a quick, surprising return of physical confidence near 19 March. Mid-April, around the 18th, the first real weight test lands on authority and stamina. Late May through mid-July restores something: strength returns, best around 22 June. Then late July, around the 27th, doubles up — words come out heavier and more scrutinised while something steadier begins underneath. August to December is the long haul, tightening toward 11 and 13 December.

WHAT HELPS

Front-load the writing, negotiating and speaking into January through May, and leave the last four months for maintenance rather than launches. Do not schedule anything requiring brilliance in the second week of December.

Sana gets quieter with everyone and closer with three people.

The wide social range narrows this year, and not unkindly. With less energy to spend, Sana starts spending it accurately — the people who get real attention are the ones who do not require a performance of being fine. Friction shows up in the middle of the year around language: something said briefly gets read as coldness, or Sana holds back a sentence and the silence does the damage instead. From late April onward a steadier thread runs through Sana's affections, the kind that rewards long loyalty and old friendships over new charm. The scene to expect is a colleague or friend asking a plain question and Sana giving, for once, a plain answer instead of the polished one, and being surprised by the relief.

WHAT HELPS

When the short answer is likely to be misread, add the one sentence that explains the tiredness behind it. Let the newer, louder connections wait; the durable ones are the ones being fed this year.

The output stays good. The cost of producing it stops being invisible.

Professionally this is a year of testing load-bearing walls. What Sana built holds — but only if the weight is redistributed, and the redistributing is the work. The first five months are unusually good for anything involving voice, negotiation, teaching, phrasing, contracts: ideas travel further than usual and land better than Sana expects. From May onward the same faculty gets slow and careful, and deadlines that used to be comfortable feel tight. Meanwhile something deep and patient rebuilds physical and strategic capacity from June, most strongly in the autumn — it is not fast, and it does not announce itself. The recognisable moment is delivering something on time, well, and realising nobody in the room can see how much of it was pure discipline.

WHAT HELPS

Say yes to the talking work early in the year and yes to the building work late; refuse the middle-ground obligations that are neither. Stop measuring the year by volume of output.

The old certainty goes soft, and Sana calls that a problem before calling it a change.

Sana is used to knowing where the ground is. This year the ground is wet. Motivation arrives late, decisions that used to be instant sit unmade for days, and the internal picture of who Sana is gets less sharp — which reads as loss when it is actually the outline being redrawn. There is also a stubbornness underneath that helps: an old, dry discipline that keeps showing up even when the feeling has gone. Around early July the blur is at its widest, and around mid-April and the second week of December the demand to be solid is at its loudest. Sana will catch a version of the self in a photograph or a recording and not quite recognise it. That is the year working, not the year failing.

WHAT HELPS

Keep two or three small daily structures running regardless of mood, and let everything else be negotiable. Stop asking, every week, whether the drive has come back — it returns in stages, not in an announcement.

Sana leaves this year knowing the real number.

What 2026 hands over is accuracy. Sana comes out of it with a truer measure of capacity, a shorter list of people and projects that actually deserve the energy, and a working method that no longer assumes endless fuel. Some of the year's fog will still be sitting there at the end — the long pressure on drive and identity does not close in December, and it would be dishonest to promise it does. But the discipline that got built under it does not evaporate. Sana will look back at the crowded, articulate spring and the heavy, quiet autumn and see one continuous piece of work: learning to be excellent at a sustainable size.

WHAT HELPS

Write down, before the year turns, the three things that were worth the cost and the three that were not, and let that list build the next calendar. Put down the version of Sana that measured worth by endurance.

A word from the stars

This is a year that takes something away first and gives the reason afterward. Sana does not have to feel strong to work well in it — the evidence of the whole twelve months is that the discipline holds even when the fuel does not. Come the end of December, the tiredness may still be there; the guessing about what matters will not be.
